July, 2025 marks the centenary of Congolese freedom fighter and icon of the world anticolonial movement, Patrice Lumumba. In Bangalore, celebrations of his centenary will be held with a photo exhibition from the 14th-25th of July, 2025 at the Indian Institute of World Culture, discussions and film screenings.
To honor Lumumba's legacy, we will examine the history of the African liberation movements, focusing on five figures; Patrice Lumumba, Oliver Tambo, Amilcar Cabral, Kwame Nkrumah and W.E.B. Du Bois.
